U.S. Open Worker Accused of Bomb Threats

2008_09_tenbomb.jpgThe Queens DA's office revealed a 19-year-old Queens resident hired as a contract employee at the U.S. Open was charged with falsely reporting an incident--actually three bomb threats. Apparently Mehmet Kadayifci, per WNBC, "pretended to be hearing impaired and used a special Web site to type three bogus claims between midnight and 1 a.m. about a bomb being inside the Arthur Ashe Stadium." (The website is to help deaf people make phone calls.) One note read, "There is a bomb in the fire command center. This is a final warning.". Not only that, Kadayifci had bragged to another worker about the prank. He could face up to 7 years in prison if convicted.

Convict and give him the maximum sentence. People need to stop being so stupid and grow up a little.

Really smart telling other people. That will always do a person in.

Good thing this guy doesn't have a muslim sounding name cause then this would play up to stereotypes.

WNBC spelled his name "Kadayifci" - which doesn't match either of your spellings Jen.

Poor guy goes to all that trouble and won't even have the google hits to show for it.

Guilty as charged. Take him out to mid ocean and drop him off with a pork roll sandwich.

making threats over the internet, what a maroon.
