seriously, what are those crane/camera things? there's one in times square too. plus tons of NYPD w/machine guns out today.
The crane thing is "Sky Watch," a “mobile platform for surveillance, assessment, and response”. More info is at http://www.icxnewheights.com/products/skywatch/
They totally blocked off the southern section of Central Park yesterday. Highly annoying trying to get out of the park if you were on a bike. They also had a ton of officers overseeing traffic along the avenues just below the parks too.
Anyone know why?
ugh. feel safer yet?
I love the Wilson sisters!
jibbly: tons and tons of stormtroopers out today. I'm assuming it has to do with the 9/11 anniversary coming up.
jibbly, yesterday was the NFL kickoff party thing at Columbus Circle; I'd imagine the cops were directing traffic because of re-routing; depending on which side of the park you were in, that probably explains the closing in the park.
Ah, NFL thing makes sense. BTW they didn't just block off the exit/entrances, they put up giant green fences along the perimeter of the path so you couldn't see what was going on.
I love that Wall of Shame. Now I can stalk the cute ones on facebook.
That is far from the first time that the GOP has used a song without permission.
ack, that story about the 3 year old sleeping on his dead father crushed my soul.
Inreased police - 9/11 is coming.
What, the GOP ignoring the rights and requests of others? Who woulda thunk it?
