I live in the building the victim lived - met him 1 time as you all know he was new to our building...I also am not one to blame the victim but why would Kevin invite this guy home? Plus how bold will this guy be to follow him home most people know that PPL who live in NYC have roommates or camera's in buildings... or doormen I really believe Kevin in a drunk state invited Cancel home. Also I dont think Cancel lied because HE turned to the cops and told them he killed why would he lie about something like that ... RIP Kevin ... You saved others lives cuz he would of killed more. You are a hero!

Cancel does not belong in prison. He belongs in a secure ward after he has had a chemical lobotomy. He needs to be 'cancelled out' for the next fifty years.

We don't know that Kevin invited him in to his apartment. Those are the words of Cancel. He may have just followed Kevin into his apartment and Kevin being too drunk was in no shape able to fight him off.

It wouldn't be the first time that somebody who was much too drunk to do anything else drew upon some secret reserve and managed to muster up the lucidity to buy drugs. Either way, buying drugs is a morally benign issue in my book. My point is that people should have a little bit more sense than to be inviting strangers into their home in the middle of the night.

Again da9007 I think you are right. I think Cancel is making his story up. I don't think Kevin went in search of him but instead Cancel found Kevin. Remember everyone Kevin was very drunk and had to be put in a cab and sent home. You are basing your opinions on the words of a Aninaml who took the life of someone without even thinking twice. Oh wait yes he did think about it. He was going to leave but then decided to go back and kill him for no apparent reason at all.

I don't think he was buying drugs, that was probably a story concocted by Cancel. It sounds like to me he was too drunk to do anything but pass out in his bed. I'm sure Cancel wanted to rob him. The really sad part is if he is given the death penalty it will probably take 10 years or more to execute this scum after the taxpayers spends millions keeping him alive.

NYC may LOOK like a shiny new playground for "normal" people, but there are lot's of nuts from every background who just don't give a F*CK>

I'm not trying to blame the victim at all, but let this be a lesson to all New York City college students: If you're going to buy drugs from a stranger, do it in public. You don't know this person and they are selling you drugs; the last thing you should be doing is inviting them into your home and then falling asleep while they are still present. Yes, the risk of getting arrested is a bit higher if you're conducting the deal in public, but hey, if it's an undercover and they entrap you or forget to Mirandize you, at least you'll have witnesses. All of that said, just reading this post made my stomach hurt. Cancel is clearly a very, very troubled young man and, while there may be some medical explanation for his apparent lack of remorse, it's still truly sickening.

I feel bad for his parents too they probably didn't know what to do with an unbalanced child, try walking in their shoes until you judge. And all these sick jokes people make on here just make you as sick as this guy. People love to make comments like this hiding behind a computer but the truth is if you were face to face you wouldn't have the nerve to make these stupid remarks on here about murder victims. I really have to quit reading these blogs because it confirms my opinion about the general public. I sometimes don't think the world is worth saving when I read insensitive and uncompassionate remarks about a crime victim.

A parent's job is to protect his child, The father's attitude is strange. Nobody wants a murderer to go unpunished, but I think the father didn't have to condemn his son. Obviously the kid is deranged and has to be put away maybe never to return to civilization but the father's efforts should be directed to getting him the proper health care. Part of the problem is the parent or parents probably never sought help and ended up with a horror show for two families.

Some of the remarks made by Cancel's parents suggest that they knew their adult child was "unbalanced" but probably couldn't do much about it -- and he only came off to them as weird, not potentially murderous. And, of course, now they're willingly blaming him and offering condolences to the family instead of rushing to defend their precious little monster. I agree; this is a welcome change from parents and other family members who plead, "But he was always such a good kid! I know my son would NEVER blah blah blah..."

I don't think Cancel's family is obviously not normal. I think the murderer is obviously not normal and that alone is implied. If someone lacks compassion and will murder someone on a whim than there is something seriously wrong with that person.

This story is so disturbing to me. I'm just glad Cancel is going away for a long time. If it wasn't this Pace student, it would have been somebody else.

obviously Cancel's family situation is not normal and there's more there than we know that most likely complicates the matter, but it's refreshing to see a parent not being blind to the faults of their child in public.
