There have been other disappearances under similar circumstances. Most were college students like Brian Shaffer, Maura Murray, or Michael Negrete. But Tara Grinstead of Ocilla Ga. was a high school teacher working on her Masters. All these persons are still missing.

It is an ongoing problem with college students. Student newspapers have written about it but no major media has picked up on the phenomenon of sudden student disappearance.

There is scant information available to make an evaluation but she did live with other roommates and was working on an advanced degree. The question is did she create the circumstances for Subliminal Distraction exposure and have the expected mental break.

If she is one of the many missing through mental events caused by SD she could be anywhere possible to travel without her passport. She would have full or partial amnesia of who she is and might have delusional beliefs of persecution.

A few students have recovered or been found. Ahmad Arain, UCLA, recovered after six weeks and remembered his email address. He had walked to Mexico in an altered mental state. Matthew Wilson was found in Berkeley California. Not much has been released about his mental state yet.

VisionAndPsychosis.Net is a five year evaluation of Subliminal Distraction. Visit the Missing Students page for other examples from around the world.

In Reply to "dooWOP":
Your comment is very disturbing. While I see no comments to-date on this site suggesting she was 'cool' OR 'open-minded', your reference suggests that you may have known her.
My family member is a friend and colleague of hers & is greatly disturbed by her disappearance. I am also told of how high-spirited she is, full of life, high-energy, bubbly personality, and was very much looking forward to planning the new school year, and sharing her experiences of her summer travels.

Many who do not know her, including myself, are in pray for her and her family. My prayer for 'you' is that your heart will soften, and perhaps keep you safe as well. I had to walk away for about an hour after reading your comment and have had a few moments to calm down. Perhaps you should be watching your back as the NYPD may want to question 'you'. What is your problem?! My first reaction is that you're a total simple-minded, self-serving, ass-hole!

@dooWOP: Given the circumstances, I think your assumptions about Hannah's demeanor are out of line.

oooooooooooooo,,,,,,doo wop thats harsh!! Its very sad that this girl is missing no matter WHERE she lives.......but I do agree with your comment on cool and trendy....I work in that area therefore I see on a daily basis what goes on in the 28, 30, 33, 34 pct areas. Please, if you live in these "cheap areas" remember you are still surrounded by savages. KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN! The Starbucks on the corner of 145 and Bradhurst is STILL HARLEM. Same goes for the one on 168 and bwy. Its still WASH HTS. Just around BOTH of those corners someone at some point is getting robbed, stabbed, or even SHOT!

I feel so sad for this girl and my prayers go out to her family.

When are these out-of-towners and transplants going to realize that they're not welcome in Harlem, no matter how cool and "open-minded" they think they are...

I hope this time will be different, but usually when a young, attractive woman disappears in this city and her mobile phone is still in her apartment (along with other stuff she usually takes with her), expect a bad ending.

here's what my aunt is praying for you, Hannah, and I am too:
“Dear God, take those I love and gather them in your gentle hands. Keep them safe from harm, guide them when their steps might falter, support them when they need strength.”

I'm keeping the faith, even if it is New York.

My 7 year old noticed flyers last night on 86th and third. Put up by detectives. That was the first I heard.

Just curious, but has anyone else seen any news on this. Missing school teacher is news, I'm surprised I haven't heard it before.

I saw a flier up about her on my walk up W 145th yesterday. Very troubling! I hope she is soon found and that she is okay.
