You can't regulate away bullying. Getting your ass kicked and learning to stand up for yourself is just part of growing up. I'm sure snitching to the designated school official will be just as disgraceful a thing to do for children as snitching to a teacher would be.

actually in one public school there's a code of conduct to be followed. parents still bitch and moan because they think little johnny is an angel outside the home. so the only thing to do is have the parents gang up on the offending parent telling them to reign in your unruly child. doesn't usually work the only way is to transfer the bully out. sometimes gentrification handles that situation.

You cannot stop kids from bullying. It's like asking the sun to not come up. Kids are enforcers of the status quo -- anything that stands out, like glasses, extra weight, intelligence, etc. is to be rigidly suppressed... www.forgotten-ny.com

we must be the only society that protects the bullies and punishes any retaliation by the bullee. so a kid writes a hit list of his bullies? big deal. so they punish the kid who gets daily beatings.

Lock up all the bullies? that's 90% of all the kids in NYC. Today, when I was on the 7 train near Shea I saw a whole bunch of Hispanic guys trying to woo one hispanic girl. It bordered on gangrape.
