A Straight Pride Parade that was supposed to kick off in Crown Heights Sunday morning (following the same route as the next day's West Indian American parade) never materialized. According to this press release, the parade was supposedly conceived by a music label to defend reggae artists from the gay community, which "targets Reggae because 99 percent of the artists are African American." But when gay blogger Joe My God schlepped out to the corner of Flatbush and Church Sunday morning, he found the place (pictured) totally deserted. Yeah they're pretty homophobic in Jamaica, but honestly, gays and lesbians can still visit the island without a problem, just don't be flamboyant about your choice of lifestyle.

I think this is a great idea! Why cant we celebrate being straight? Is it becuase a straight parade might not have all the trannys for people to gawk at? Maybe its the lack of guys in ass-less chaps or thongs.
