Straight Pride Parade All Talk, No March

A Straight Pride Parade that was supposed to kick off in Crown Heights Sunday morning (following the same route as the next day's West Indian American parade) never materialized. According to this press release, the parade was supposedly conceived by a music label to defend reggae artists from the gay community, which "targets Reggae because 99 percent of the artists are African American." But when gay blogger Joe My God schlepped out to the corner of Flatbush and Church Sunday morning, he found the place (pictured) totally deserted. Why are straight people are so full of shame, when they have so much—pleated pants, domestic beer, Rick Santorum—to be proud of? [Via Brownstoner.]

I think this is a great idea! Why cant we celebrate being straight? Is it becuase a straight parade might not have all the trannys for people to gawk at? Maybe its the lack of guys in ass-less chaps or thongs.

If they do I straight pride parade it should be in Chelsea. Then we str8) can also have sex in the alleys/streets, bars, and leave all our nasty used condoms all over the street too.

Ahhhhh that whould be a grand parade..

They may have pleated pants and domestic beer, but straight people aren't (all) stupid enough to show up to this.

Yeah they're pretty homophobic in Jamaica, but honestly, gays and lesbians can still visit the island without a problem, just don't be flamboyant about your choice of lifestyle.

Leave the gayness to a minimum and you'll be alright.

Gimme a break. Reggae artists are targeted because they are notoriously homophobic as is Jamaica itself (dubbed by Time as "the most homophobic place on earth). It has nothing to do with anyone being black.
