Man Arrested for Bra-zen Scheme

2008_09_vsecret.jpgA Queens man was arrested and charged with selling $80,000 worth of stolen Victoria's Secret bras online. George Tutaya, 41, set up eBay usernames and PayPal accounts to sell the bras, which retail between $40-80, for just $25 a pop. It's believed he got the bras from a shoplifting ring and he sold over 2,000. When police went to his home, they found another 650 bras. He is being held on $7,500 bail; a neighbor described the Tutayas as a quiet family. And Queens DA Richard Brown said, "Trafficking in stolen goods on the Internet will no more be tolerated than fencing stolen property would be anywhere else."

Next thing you're going to tell me is that people actually buy men's underwear on Ebay also...

Ebay has banned the sale of used underwear. Although I believe you can still buy schoolgirls' dirty underwear from vending machines in Tokyo.

Those shoplifting rings love Victoria's Secret, it's a huge problem for the chain.

Also; boobs!

"What a boob."

Oh, snap! It had to be bras. Couldn't he have picked something else less embarassing to sell illegally?

"He got away with his scheme until a cybercrimes manager from Victoria's Secret alerted the Queens district attorney's office, prosecutors said. "

So Victoria's Secret has people combing eBay looking for sellers offering a lot of their underwear? That's weird.

I see Salad is up to his old tricks posting nothing of consequence over and over again. Gothamist should ban him.

"He got away with his scheme until a cybercrimes manager from Victoria's Secret alerted the Queens district attorney's office, prosecutors said. "

I read that before posting. It still doesn't answer the question fully. How did the cybercrime manager find out about him? Was the shoplifting ring busted and it sent him to this guy?
