Down and Out: T-Mobile Service Outage

2008_09_tmobile.jpgA few readers have emailed us about T-Mobile service being out. A message board indicates the problem is in Manhattan, but a T-Mobile user in Brooklyn is having voice issues, but not data ones. Update: T-Mobile says the problem--which affects text, voice and data-- covers all of the greater NYC area (which includes the five boroughs and NJ, depending on how the call is routed). Engineers have been investigating the issue for the past few hours; there is no estimated time when service will be back.

  • I also have been suffered network outage problems on T-Mobile network. Users who disappointing with T-Mobile network signals, so they should T-mobile signal booster than can help to improve the signal strength of the network.

It's funny. I had no service but I was able to call Customer Care to pay my bill. That worked perfectly.

Deutsche Telekom, A.K.A. "T Mobile" sucks ass. Fucking Germans.

Thank you t-mo for sucking ass as usual! My friend fleeing hurricane Gustav left me multiple text and voicemails over the weekend asking for a place to stay and I got one (old one) this morning. Also all the sudden got NINE old unheard voicemails I had never heard before from the past month. ARG!

It's dead again. Just got a notification that I have a new voicemail, but looks like I will have to call in from a landline to get it. This blows. If ATT was any better, I would have switched by now, but they suck too.

  • Kojak

Suck it up! Who needs phones? I don't mind being out of contact for a few hours. Everyone can leave me alone.

  • salad

    i have nothing. NOTHING!!!

  • meganificent

i also have talk service now but no texting. i'm in midtown east.

  • nomnomnom

Switch to ATT and the iPhone? It seems like the iPhone 3G has more problems than T-Mobile.

  • MatthewJC

CORRECTION: I now have service, but cannot sent text messages. Do they actually expect me to TALK to people?

  • Kojak

However shitty the service is in the US, its international service is the best out of any carrier, especially in Europe and many parts of Asia.

I gotta say, after using T-Mobile for the past 6 years, and always with the spottiest of service, I'm so happy I FINALLY switched to ATT (and the iPhone!)

T-Mobile is definitely one of the worst. Users, save the headaches and make the jump --- IT'S PAINLESS, I PROMISE!

  • MatthewJC

    Hey! Looks like I'm back!

  • allthewine

My phone had no service around noon but it's now working just fine.

  • rowla

just had 1 whole incoming SMS slip through ... now no network again. Chelsea

  • MatthewJC

Yeah, I've been down since noon here in Soho. I say we file a class-action so we can all get out of our contracts without that blasted penalty charge. And then we can all get iPhones. And be cool.

  • skrapreklam

LES is out of service. And yeah, they've been having issues with their SMS service. Turning my phone off and back on helped with that, but not so much now that service has gone out completely

  • graybanks

Likewise; I'm in the Financial District and it's been out for a while. Though this is the first time I've seen something like this (and I've had them for years), in general, T-Mobile sucks, but it's the cheapest.

  • acimeow

Just to confirm, I'm in Manhattan (midtown), and I don't have service. This really sucks!!!

  • Kojak

Ack thanks for the 411. My phone doesnt work either.

I see now why T-Mobile is the cheapest service.
