VP Candidate Sarah Palin Says Daughter is Pregnant

2008_08_bpalin.jpgRepublican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin confirmed that her eldest daughter Bristol, 17, is five months pregnant. Guess that scurrilous pregnancy-conspiracy gossip that the youngest Palin (baby Trig) is actually Bristol's will have to end. Palin and her husband issued a statement, "Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family," and asked for the media to respect their privacy. Question: When is Fox News going to use a "Baby Mama" graphic, because wouldn't that be "fair and balanced"?

    everwood is gay.

nice find on that photo 52.

if palin does indeed become VP, and mccain kicks the bucket, has the baby daddy struck alaskan gold?

"The important thing is, the Palin family are taking responsibility, sticking together and supporting each other in a difficult time -- THAT tells me a lot about their character."

That's what you're SUPPOSED to do. So doing the right thing makes you a wonderful person? Good for them for supporting a pregnant daughter. Meh.

  • redhookreject

if you look at the hi res pic of Bristol, taken last spring...

you notice a promise ring. guess she broke the promise part of the ring.

Palin supports abstinence only education. Of course teens still have sex! How can they be expected to have safe sex, protect against pregnancy and STDs and AIDS if no one tells them how?? What they should figure it out on their own?

Yeah, she had a "choice" to keep the baby. Right. Palin has already stated that she would not allow abortion for her daughters even if they were raped.

    OH NO- ! NOT PREGNANT. . .

    So let's see. . .

is America going to allow the dalliance of a teenage girl in Alaska-

to actually effect the future of the free world?!

    Ridiculous!

The world will be laughing at America for years to come!

How stupid can we possibly be??!!

    Thanks S.D.

Damn another republican going to hell. Democrats, majority rules and you lost, republicans have control of Hell.

  • west side Michael

I was not sure Republicans had sex at all.

She looks like a child and Levi her friend and

    dad to be too.

Ah for that old "in & out" urge.

Republicans want birth control to be banned

    Really?

Yes, really. And also this one showing almost all Republican reps voting against contraceptive aid. Fine, if you want to put a fine line around it, theocratic Republicans, okay? Why is it so hard to understand? They want abstinence to be the one, true path to birth control. Contraceptives are a tacit admission that abstinence is not practical and/or desirable for most people. Even Fox News, that bastion of liberal press (not), noted the growing campaign of trying to deny contraceptives to women.

    @42

BH, I usually don't agree with most of your posts.

That said, that was effin' hilarious.

  • dooWOP

I wish he were a black kid - wouldn't that be something...?

  • EastRiver

Spiritof76, no I am not a Republican but I am not surprised that you need to slap labels on people that you don't agree with. It is ironic that after eight years of people attacking Bush and the neocons for seeing everything in black and white here you are doing just that. If I don't get down in the gutter with you then I must be a Republican.

Republicans want birth control to be banned

    Really?

  • Kojak

What we need is a picture of the husband to be. Hopefully he's not a slack jawed yokel.

  • babyhitler

I like how this whole VP thing is turning into an episode of Everwood. Yeah, I watched Everwood, what?

  • takethecanoli

    newsflash:

    Teenagers

    1. fuck

    2. don't listen to their parents

    3. are at peak fertility

    4. frequently misuse birth control, if they use it at all

That aside, I'm not sure the Evangelical brand of christian whackjob is against birth control. That's papist claptrap, no?

  • Anna_Merkin

It IS a private matter, which is why Mrs. Palin and the rest of the "Christian" Conservatives should understand why they should keep their laws off women's bodies. I'm happy that Bristol HAS the choice of whether to keep the child.

  • S.D.

Jacque, that would be the GOP double standard kicking in...

  • NannyState

"Isn't Baby Trig just adorable? Ooh he looks so strong! Ooh he looks so jaunty! Ooh he looks...just like John McCain! Bad war hero! bad!"

  • JacqueMehoff

now I'm hearing all these old rnc farts saying they don't care if she's under-aged, unmarried and pregnant. oh now, it's we don't care.

  • Spirit of 76

Perhaps the kid did use birth control but it failed; it's been known to happen. Perhaps Palin did teach her daughter about abstinence but she didn't listen; kids not listening to parents, also been known to happen.

If she used birth control, then that's hypocritical since Republicans want birth control to be banned. And are you saying abstinence education doesn't work? Shocker! That's not what the Republicans say.

The important thing is, the Palin family are taking responsibility, sticking together and supporting each other in a difficult time -- THAT tells me a lot about their character.

No, the important thing is she lied. That's not taking responsibility. THAT tells me a lot about her character. If it had been a Democrat doing the same thing, I guarantee you the conservatives currently running to her defense would be screaming "cover-up!"

  • metarobotic

speculation about the down's syndrome kid "has to end"? actually, doesn't it make it more likely that juno jr. is the mom, now that we know something about her character?
