Republicans Find More Fault with Rangel's Real Estate

2008_08_rangelpo2.jpgAfter the NY Post's cover story wondering about rental income from Representative Charles Rangel's Dominican Republic villa, a GOP group weighs in. Rangel's villa, which sits on a resort, has been rented out to hotel guests, but he hasn't reported rental income in the past two years (his chief of staff suggested Rangel may be a shareholder at the resort and put money back into the resort--but Rangel's tax returns don't mention that). The National Republican Congressional Committee now tells the Post, "Charlie Rangel is a fan of authoring massive tax hikes just as long as he doesn't have to pay them." And Representative Peter King (R-Nassau County) said, "Did he report the rental income or not? If he didn't, he'll have to explain why. I'm sure it will be investigated."

Nothing to see here folks, just move along. He's a democrat, it's cool.

It looks like open season these days for anyone who isn't "clean and articulate"...

jchez, I have to say that this is what democracy is. Charlie Rangel will keep getting elected because he does things for his district. I don't live there but the stuff that's coming out now about his apartment and condo really shouldn't be the issue and I imagine he probably won't run again. It'll take his successor many years to be able to produce anything near what Charles Rangel has done.

As for Mr Morgenthau he is obviously a great administrator. He plays an important part in keeping the crime rate down in this city. If Crock-Snyder is his replacement, you'll notice the difference in about 10 minutes.

Oh God, I hate it so much that the smug, slimy hypocrite is a my congressman for life!

Do we have such a dearth of skilled people that people like Rangel and Morgenthau can continue to ge elected until they die? That's not a democracy.
