Teens Arrested in Apparent Plot to Kill Cop

2008_08_bloods.jpgThe police have arrested two teens who are accused of luring a cop "into the line of fire" in Bed-Stuy on Sunday. Cops say a 15-year-old "purposefully distracted a cop": The teen first spoke to a uniformed patrol cop, headed into a Chinese restaurant and gave some food to a group across the street from the cop, and went back to talk to the cop. Then an 18-year-old, Bloods gang member Keith Myers, allegedly fired at the cop from across the street. Myers, who claimed he was firing at a different car with a Crips member pointing a gun at him, was charged with attempted murder and weapons possession. The other teen, also a member of the Bloods, was charged with attempted murder, acting in concert and reckless endangerment.

Convicted gang members should be put in solitary confinement for their entire sentences. That would deprive them of the thing that's most important in their lives: validation from their peers. It would also keep them from learning how to be better criminals.

    These kids are just misunderstood.

i thought the only people wearing bandanas these days were brooklyn hipsters.

Officer, that man in the blue bandana is in the red zone over here. May I shoot him please?

  • Rocknrope

You gotta love his alibi. "No, no, no, you don't understand, I was trying to kill someone else, not the cop."

  • Splicer

Blood, Crips, whoever...wipe them off the face of the earth. Can it really be that hard to do?

What does the Chinese food have to do with it?

  • and this is why the police don't come around to these hoods. they'd rather see em burn.

The 18 year old had a lengthy rap sheet already? Yet another productive member of society...

Time to use the RICO act on these punks.

  • MMM510

Thank goodness no one was hurt! One can only hope they will learn from this - but I fear, they'll only learn how to aim more accurately.

  • Agnostic Farts

i blame the education system for the botched attempt. a lot more schooling would have made the attempt successful.

"who was not hurt and did not return fire"

When an NYPD police officer doesn't return fire after being shot at, that's embarrassing. Bloods should be a little more strict on who they recruit.

Luckily for the cop, teenage gangsters have shitty aim. I'd like to say that they'd get their asses kicked in prison, but they probably have lots of fellow members watching their backs.
