McCain Pokes Fun at His Age Again

2008_08_mccainleno.jpgPresumptive Republican presidential nominee Senator John McCain visited The Tonight Show last night and chortled over his age with Jay Leno. McCain, who turns 72 on Friday, had jokes like, "My social security number is eight" and "You forgot to mention that I warned the people about the British coming." When Leno asked, "For $1 million, how many houses do you have?" McCain brought up his five years as a POW in Vietnam, "I didn't have a house. I didn't have a kitchen table. I didn't have a table," and said of his wealthy wife, "I’m very proud of Cindy’s father. ... He made the American dream."

Ten years ago, John McCain was somewhat interesting. Today, it's like watching the air slowly being let out of a tire. Pathetic. if he was too weak to stand up to Dubya, what makes anyone think he could stand up to Putin...or even Gordon Brown?

bxbrian I will hold the door for you as you leave asshole

    I'm running for what?

  • theevilone

Yes, he had a house where his maimed wife lived and dutifully waited for him those years. I think she had a table too. Then he left her because she wasn't hot anymore. Nice man.

Seriously, I do admire the man's service, but it doesn't give you a free pass for everything the rest of your life. There are other ways to serve the country too. Plus, let's be serious. This dude crashed like 5 planes. If he was a better pilot, maybe they wouldn't have captured his @ss.

  • huffybike

Well, this was an embarrassing display. I put up MP3s from the McCain appearance.

  • JacqueMehoff

maybe he didn't have a house in Vietnam but he probably had a house in the USA. unless the gooks took it, they made him sign over his lease.

no wonder michael moriarty is a republican, he actually thought he was in the hanoi hilton.

Politics now is just a moebius strip of failure. You don't win cause you are good you win cause the other party has failed and you harp on it. Obama would have never been allowed this opportunity to become president if not for the massive Blunder of George W. Bush. Black people everywhere should thank Bush for opening the door.

We don't need another idiot puppet in the White House.

McSame hasn't got a snowballs chance in you know where. President Obama FTW!!

#21 - Oh they'll bring it up, I'm sure of it, but only to distract. McCain wasn't damaged politically as much because his charges were mostly dismissed by the ethics committee. Still a fun story to pull out of the hat when the time is ripe.

  • just saying

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned McCain's association with the Keating 5 and the scandal of the savings & loan failures. As a result, tens of thousands of elderly people lost their entire life savings. This was about 20 years ago and most of those people are probably dead now, but it was a big issue then and reflected badly not only on McCain but also on his Cindy McCain's father.

Like repeat the word Change so many times that the word loses all meaning?

  • babyhitler

I don't understand everyone talking about voting for McCain for his "experience". His experience is in Losing. Why would america vote for a dude that was a PRISONER of war? Is he gonna teach Americans to hide things in their ass when The Chinese take over?

  • Billiamsburg

Y'all looking at the next president, show some respect.

  • Paul Allen

Sorry, that last comment meant to quote a previous comment. They don't make it easy for you to do that here, do they?

  • Paul Allen

If he becomes president, I will move to Nova Scotia.

Every election people make these threats, but no one ever moves. Statements like this should be binding.

I'm already scouting out one-bedrooms in Halifax, trust me.

    John McCain:

    I'm So Old...

    > I can't remember the difference between Shia and Sunni!

    > I can't remember the difference between Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan!

    > I can't remember how many homes that I own!

    > I call the Green Bay Packers the Pittsburgh Steelers!

    > I think Iraq and Pakistan are neighboring countries!

    > I think Darfur is in Somalia, not Sudan!

    > I think Vladimir Putin is the "president of Germany"!

    > What was I saying?

  • blackwhole

Guys, now, lay off. This was just 2 dudes who haven't written new material in 20 years yukking it up. That's what elections are for!

  • JacqueMehoff

I'm so old back in my day we called the gooks, coloreds and negroes. which is basically true because people his age did call people that and much worse.

  • I wish McCain would just shut up about being a POW. WE KNOW!! It's his only response to something negative about himself.

  • urzzz

It was all cute until he went,"Hey guys! Remember! I was a POW!".

  • citizenerased

I'm so old i'm literally decaying before everyone's eyes

  • malebranche99

Sad bit is it seems many of us select our president based on how much we'd like to pal around with them instead of listening carefully to their policies. I imagine that's how we should be selecting friends, not leaders.

  • bxbrian

I'm so old, I'd be a shitbag president!

oh wait, i don't think there's a punchline for that one.

  • Paul Allen

This guy is dangerous. His avuncular manner masks a scary, good-and-evil view of the world. If he becomes president, I will move to Nova Scotia.

  • matty

"I'm so old, when I went to camp Jesus Christ was my counselor!"
