FAA Computer Problems Means Huge Airplane Delays

2008_08_faablue.jpgThe FAA says a "communication failure" is why flights on the East Coast are being delayed. WABC 7 says the delays are "at airports east of the Mississippi River." The problem is at a "National Airspace Data Interchange Network facility south of Atlanta," so the processing for all flights is at a facility in Salt Lake City. But don't worry--the FAA hasn't lost contact with planes and can still speak to pilots. So far, delays at LaGuardia are over an hour, 41 minutes at JFk and 15 minutes at Newark.

It is time for Robert Sturgell to resign as "Acting" Head of the FAA. This is another horrible symptom of a Failed FAA Administration whose luck is quickly running out. Dig a bit deeper and you will probably find that this was caused some sweetheart deal with some inept company being overseen by and equally inept FAA Administration.

Yeah, I was thinking that didn't seem so bad. Maybe it's like that time PLUS the usual delays they have.

That would make it a good day for metro NYC airports right?
