  • From the Gothamist Newsmap: A found DOA on Lorraine & Columbia Streets in Brooklyn, a person under train at 96th St & Bway in Manhattan and a school bus MVA at 92nd St & Springfild Blvd in Queens.
  • The Staten Island restaurateur who was murdered last month had been cooperating with the FBI, which wanted to "fish evidence out of his marina - specifically, a metal pole investigators believe was used to incinerate the body parts of a mob murder victim."
  • A critic of Schools Chancellor Klein was pleased but said, "Unfortunately, it’s just a few schools in the sixth year of his administration."
  • Denzel Washington appeared in his old hometown of Mount Vernon to help support funding for school sports (he donated $100,000 to their sports program).
  • The pop-up park at Brooklyn's Pier 1 was extended through September 28.
  • Ten city schools will be in a pilot program for a different approach to reading.

  • About the shark sighting at Rockaway Beach yesterday...it was 10-feet long! Okay, that's unconfirmed, because it was never actually found. Be careful out there.
