Artist Douglas Stanley has pulled his piece from a German art exhibit where he recreated the 9/11 attacks with images from the classic video game Space Invaders. Stanley was facing the possibility of legal action from the game's maker and claims that he received death threats because of the work. Stanley, who lives in France, called the American response immature compared to "other parts of the world." He said that he was a saddened that Americans "as a people remain so profoundly unable to process this event." The installation had been widely condemned by everyone from victims' families to video gamers.

I can process that Stanley is trying to make a name (and a buck) for himself by incorporating a real tragedy into his art.
Scum....bag.
no no he's right though. Americans are cry babies. If you cant discuss events that are unpleasant how can you ever progress as a society? Lets just keep the public discourse as to what TV shows Obama likes to watch.
i guess what you could do is move to france and make boring art.
People really need to lighten up and if it's not for them then they should go do something else with their lives.
C'est dommage! Poor Stanley must b tres sensitive. Plus his art sucks.
If this guy is an artist I am a relief pitcher for the Mets.
@ woodendesigner:
People can "lighten up" with their very own 9/11 Memorial lighter!

i heard he is working on a new game also using the twin towers but with donkey kong. where he is the donkey.
OMG how hilarious... the rest of the world can get over something that happened to us, why can't we? It's not like it happened to us or anything. Geez, what's the big deal?
Why doesn't he try making a similar piece with rows of goose-stepping Nazis standing in for the Space Invaders and see how "mature" the Germans would be about it?
its fucked up though for anyone who had family in that event i bet if he had known someone he would not have created this.
Yeah, like he didn't know people were going to be offended by this when he created this piece of "art". What a prick, pretending to be surprised like that.
He is an asshat looking to be "outrageous" so he can get some attention.
No, most of us remain widely unable to exploit it for material or personal gain. Prick.
Everyone knew this *cough* "artist" was just looking for attention, and no one gave it to him. There was no outcry, no outrage. There WAS no American response -- mature or immature. It was stupid, immature, bad art and we tastefully ignored it.
But he really, really, really wanted people to be outraged, so now he's going to pretend that they actually were. What a baby.
