I totally agree, Ivory, I had the unfortunate luck of staying there in 2006. They definately make their profit off of the backs of student groups, budget travellers and people who can't afford the more pricy establishments in the higher numbers. I'm not sure how much improvement renovation could bring to it, the place is gloomy and opressive (large, complex hallway layout with the only windows being in the central elevator lobby) and questionable structural integrity in some areas. The place may be historic, but if all it has is history then that may not be enough to justify keeping it.

Definitely renovate. It's got more character than any glass box Vornado is likely to put up on the site.

They need to redo that place. It's historic. Redo it like the Plaza.
