Last Night's Action: Better...But...

2006_04_syankeeslogo.jpg

  • Yankees 5 Toronto 1: If they had lost the Yankees would have been in a tie for third place, but they won and for a second, everything seems right in their world again. It is probably a fleeting moment, because the deficit is just too big, but for now the Yankees have life again. Andy Pettitte was good, shutting down the Blue Jays over seven innings and Derek Jeter crept closer to Babe Ruth in the hits department. Baltimore and Boston lost which helps, but there is still a lot of ground to recover and very little time to do so.
  • Mets 6 Atlanta 3: What’s the best solution to beating the bullpen blues? A complete game from their starter is just what the Mets need. Wednesday it was Mike Pelfrey who went the distance allowing three runs on three hits. David Wright hit his 24th homer and drove in his 97th run while Pelfrey helped himself with a RBI.

lol ,yeah, that's what I was gonna say. Don't quit your day job.

"everything seems right in their world again."

No it doesn't. If they win tonight, it still won't be right. They can only realistically afford another 9 losses, with 36 left to play. That means they have to win 4 out of 5 of all their games left. Unless Boston AND Minnesota suddenly shit the bed and lose like ten in a row, it's safe to say that the Yankees will be hitting the links in a month's time. Don't quit your day job.

I love when people suck at their jobs.
