The short list of candidate cities for 2016 is Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro, and Tokyo so the only way to make riding the bus interesting is to use open air double decked sightseeing buses - and block the stairs. The cities eliminated earlier this year would be far more compelling: Baku, Azerbaijan; Doha, Qatar; and Prague, Czech Republic.

And in looking that up I see that karate, squash, golf, and rugby are trying to be included in 2016 as well as softball and baseball trying to get back in. Final decision comes in 2009 when the pick the host. Golf?

This the greatest sport. I love when they pour water on each other and start hugging. I cant wait till they win maybe we will get to see some oral action.

Real volleyball is great. I once got to see the #1 and #2 ranked NCAA teams play in person and it was amazing. Beach volleyball though, not so much. No rallies, it's basically serve, bump, set, spike and then serve again.

And wouldn't you think that beach volleyball is a sport that shouldn't be played in the rain? Whatever, that Chinese chick on the right in the photo has great abs.

I would watch Women's volleyball all DAY! I agree the second chinese team would have been a good match. Mainly cause they were a whole lot hotter. Women's volleyball has everything. Hot chicks and violent spiking action. Unlike softball which is boring and women's basketball which has no dunks. Volleyball should be on the same level as men's basketball in america like in china. What's wrong? I think it's women who are jealous of all the hotties in volleyball that make it not happen. And #4- BMX is pretty exciting. Let's face it though, these sports would be boring as hell to watch everyday but every 4 years against international competition is still interesting to watch.

Are you kidding, I LOVE women's beach volleyball. That's some good watchin'.

Sidenote, maybe you prefer men's synchronized diving? The excitement of the tumbling dual speedo action really gets your blood pumping right?

hmm, i bet now that the evil Americans lost, the IOC will finally reconsider keeping softball as an Olympic sport.

I actually enjoyed the women's volleyball - and not only because of the bikinis. There was incredible athleticism and some intense competition. And playing during the pouring rain this morning -- their athletic gear could not have been more appropriate for that kind of weather.

I like indoor volleyball even more. I think a pro indoor volleyball league would have a chance for success in this country (does one exist already?). A good setup for a fledgling pro league would be to have women's and men's teams play doubleheaders. The women's game (a bit more volleying, less spiking) is, in some ways, more enjoyable.

Hey EastRiver - Didn't you hear? Riding the bus is going to be an event at the 2016 Olympics. The hard part is the dismount - especially since they speed the bus up in the later rounds.

Now maybe they can broadcast something people actually want to watch.

Like rhythmic gymnastics, synchronized swimming, race walking and BMX. And as George Carlin said, "Sailing isn't a sport. Sailing is a way to get somewhere. Riding the bus isn't a sport, why the fuck should sailing be a sport?"

The wrong Chinese team made it to the finals. That one Chinese chick was too sneaky with that fake arm injury and thought she was too smart, too arrogant, for Team USA. The second Chinese team would have been a better match up for May and Walsh.

Thank god that sorry excuse for an Olympic sport is over. Now maybe they can broadcast something people actually want to watch.
