Even though a well paid public offical owning a rent stabilized apartment is abhorrent as well as it is ridiculous, I'd do exact same thing, even with the same salary.

So basically they want to give themselves more power to raise rents. Uh... no. Anyway, the statement from the RSA spokesman would leave me, if I were a landlord, hoping that the suit itself does a better job of making an argument than he does when speaking to the press: "For the first time, they are making a violation something that is not objective but something that is subjective." The problem with that is that a clear definition of harassment is well-established both in penal codes and case law in the US. The argument that it's "subjective" is baseless.
