READING: Tonight Courtney Humphries talks pigeons at McNally Jackson. The author of Superdove: How the Pigeon Took Manhattan…and the World "tells the story of how the lowly rock dove became the pigeon, a bird ubiquitous and annoying enough to be reviled as a rat with wings, but one that has also inspired rapturous artistry and fetishistic devotion from breeders, eaters, and racers, while managing to thrive just about anywhere humans have trod."

7 p.m. // McNally Jackson [52 Prince St] // Free

0808superman.jpgMOVIE: If you've got superhero fever after seeing the Dark Knight, head over to Bryant Park for the 1978, pre-IMAX classic Superman. Claim a spot on the lawn and watch the Man of Steel fly around Manhattan, er, Metropolis.

8 p.m. // Bryant Park [42nd and 6th] // Free

COMEDY: Spend "An Evening with The Daily Show" tonight at Comix. The evening will deliver writers and members of the cast, including: John Oliver, Rich Blomquist, JR Havlan and Rory Albanese.

8 p.m. // Comix [353 W 14th St] // $20

MUSIC: Shut out of the Walkmen's sold out show tonight? Angelina-ex, Billy Bob Thornton, leaves his acting cap at home tonight to take the stage as a musician at Highline Ballroom. Next time Billy Bob is on the big screen, it may very well be as Freddy Krueger! Will tonight's performance be equally as scary?

9 p.m. // Highline Ballroom [431 W 16th St] // $18

Superman forever! That Joker fella wouldn't stand a chance against the Man of Steel.

Been waiting for Superman all summer long--still gives me chill over that song Can You Read My Mind, music by John Williams and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse.
