Its not about what the child wants, its whether she/he is old enough to make those types of decisions themselves. In this case however the pressure seems to be more from the parents side. In all fairness, women have already evolved to resemble children. They have childike voices, physically resemble children in stature and build, and many even evolved hair similar to children. Men first evolved to desire woman and to protect children. It is only natural women would evolve to elicit both these responses.
