  • From the Gothamist Newsmap: A boat on fire underneath the Verrazano Bridge, a fall victim at 12 Av & W 57 St in Manhattan, and an overturned auto in Cross Bay Blvd in Queens.
  • A disabled train in NJ is causing all sorts of delays on NJ Transit.
  • Good thing a strike was averted--Verizon is wiring a Lower East Side building with Fios.
  • Happy Birthday, Crime Stoppers! The city's anonymous crime tips hot line turns 25 today.
  • Record producer Jerry Wexler died today; he worked with Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Dusty Springfield and many others.
  • The bubble tea at Grand Sicuan on Lex is "garbage... The tapioca pearls were rock hard in the middle, dry, and they had a strong taste of prunes or raisins or something. Disgusting. 2 sips later I threw it away, a once in a lifetime occurence (being fat *and* cheap means I never throw away food.)"
  • And NY Sun columnist Lenore Skenazy who let her 9-year-old son ride the subway alone talks about parents who miss their kids (who are at camp) to WNYC's Brian Lehrer.
