Acting DOB Commissioner Now Permanent DOB Commissioner

2008_08_limandri.jpgMayor Bloomberg is making acting Building Department commissioner Robert LiMandri the permanent commissioner. LiMandri has headed the DOB after previous commissioner Patricia Lancaster stepped down after a month after the March 15 crane collapse. City Room points out that the City Council paved the way for the expected promoting by changing the requirements needed for the job. Now commissioners do not need to be licensed engineers or architects--LiMandri "has an engineering degree, but is not licensed." More about LiMandri here.

If he's not licensed, how does he get to work? Cab, subway, car service?

Actually Robert Moses "king of the parkways" and other transportation infrastructure never drove a car. So I guess it's OK.

Must be true that nobody wanted the job.

@JenChungsBra, no kidding. I sort of hope LiMandri can stay on in the next mayoral administration, because that department has so many problems, someone needs to stay in there and try to sort things out.
