Feds: Philly Man Tried to Extort Giants Coach

2008_08_tomcoughlin.jpgThe U.S. Attorney's Office announced that a Philadelphia man was charged with "mailing threatening communications" to Giants head coach Tom Coughlin. WNBC reports that apparently Herbert Alex Simpson sent two letters, claiming two women would "expose a fictional sexual encounter with Coughlin" and demanded between $20,000 and $30,000. Simpson allegedly went on to say that if he wasn't paid, he would make Coughlin's life "a living hell by doing something to [his] family.” Neither Coughlin or any of his family members were hurt and Simpson faces two years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.

Stupid Eagles fans.

I guess never seeing your teams win anything goes to your head after a while.

30k? what is it amateur night?

Given the source, I am amazed the demands didn't include throwing football games.

Ahhh, so many details left out. The nutjob stated he was actually mad at the two women, and trying to get them in trouble. He wrote the letters in their names and sent them to Coughlin:

And yeah, he's probably a stupid Beagles fan.

If it was after the Super Bowl, no one in the city would have cared.
