These games are already subscription based. Now with online updating there isn't as much incentive to upgrade, but I bet around this time next year, Madden 09 suddenly won't be able to get roster updates anymore..

The only tried and true curse of which I am aware and for which I would have concern is the Sports Illustrated Cover Jinx. Brett Favre appeared on a cover in January '08 and The Packers did suffer the curse. I am not aware if the curse has struck the same player twice in the same calendar year though. The only exception to the SI curse occurred in 1973. Rumor has it that although SI put Secretariat on the cover, the curse was counteracted when Time and Newsweek did the same thing, the only time this has happened.
