Change Favre's Jersey on Madden, But Beware the Curse

Jets fans, are you upset by the cover of Madden NFL 09 that has Brett Favre in a Green Bay uniform? Well, EA Sports has a solution for you! You can now download a new cover with the future Hall of Famer in a Jets uniform. All you have to do is print it on some glossy paper and 'BOOM!' you've got yourself an up-to-date game. Wii owners, no cover update for you, but you're not real gamers anyway.

Even better than the cover is that EA has an online roster download that will put Favre on the Jets as the starting QB. Chad Pennington fans, it's advised you don't download the roster update. Bonus for Jets fans, EA even has a video of your new QB playing at Giants Stadium.

More problematic though is the Madden Curse, which may have started already. After practice this morning, Favre said that his "arm is kind of dragging a bit." Could it be the effects of the prolonged retired/not retired period or something more serious for the 38 year-old Favre.

These games are already subscription based. Now with online updating there isn't as much incentive to upgrade, but I bet around this time next year, Madden 09 suddenly won't be able to get roster updates anymore..

The only tried and true curse of which I am aware and for which I would have concern is the Sports Illustrated Cover Jinx.

Brett Favre appeared on a cover in January '08 and The Packers did suffer the curse. I am not aware if the curse has struck the same player twice in the same calendar year though.

The only exception to the SI curse occurred in 1973. Rumor has it that although SI put Secretariat on the cover, the curse was counteracted when Time and Newsweek did the same thing, the only time this has happened.

What curse? You mean the curse of a team that went 4-12 with two of those wins against the mighty Dolphins?????
