How...Coincidental: Rangel Announces 100s of Apartments Will Remain Subsidized

Yesterday, Representative Charles Rangel announced that he and other lawmakers, per the NY Post, "persuaded landlords in four of six 'at-risk' buildings not to opt out of Section 8 government-subsidy contracts." Which meant Rangel--of the four (now three) rent-stabilized apartments--had an opportunity to be photographed with supporters holding up signs like "Champion of preservation" and for City Council member Inez Dickens to tell him, "You have our back, and now we are here for you." Not everyone was happy with Rangel--one person told the NY Times, Rangel "wants we all to think that he’s there for the people, but deep down inside, he doesn’t care.”

I would just laugh derisively, but really, the corruption in this city has started to make me sick.

Charlie Rangel is a crook. People will not stand for this kind of Dinkins era bribery BS.

corrupt politicians wouldnt be around for as long as Rangel has been in a 'democracy'

100 years from now if the City still exists it will be just as corrupt. Flies are drawn to shit just as night follows day...

Even if I didn't know who Rangel was, I could tell he was a politician just by that great photo.

He'd still have to use the back entrance at Tammany Hall.

crooks and thieves, that's what all politicians are.

and really terrible actors...

nothing like a photo-op with "supporters"(aka staff members)with a little back peddling thrown in and just a smattering of bread crumbs to the general public, to smooth over the fact that he still has THREE RENT STABALIZED APARTMENTS! There is just something not right about the whole situation.
