Bush Sending Condoleezza Rice to Georgia

2008_08_ricega.jpgPresident Bush announced today that he's sending Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to the country of Georgia, to show "America's unwavering support." Rice will go to Georgian capital Tbilisi after going to France, which had negotiated the ceasefire between Russia and Georgia. However, Georgia claims Russia tanks occupied the city of Gori today. Georgian president Mikhal Saakashvili criticized the West, including the U.S., saying, “Today, the West’s very will is tested. The main thing is if the West fails now, then it will have tremendous consequences for the world for years to come.” MSNBC reports Russian military mocked retreating Gerogians as having gotten "American training in running away.

    "American training in running away."

The Russians are confused- we don't have a Democratic Commander-in-Chief (yet).

"How can you pick on a tiny country with less people than New York and act Triumphant about kicking the living crap out of them?"

"They must have reviewed game film from 2003..."

2003 and a few other years. The U.S. has bombed, invaded or otherwise attacked a couple of dozen small countries that were not threatening it just since World War 2. Often these attacks have been accompanied by a good deal of triumphant huffing and puffing by the government and mainstream media (if there's a difference).

"American training in running away." - a quote like that seems tailored made propaganda to get Americans feeling insulted and on the side of Georgia. I have doubts about anything the media or that my goverment tells says about this conflict

The Russians shouldn't be talking. Other than a massive (creaky) Nuclear arsenal and well respected air force, their military is still shit. How can you pick on a tiny country with less people than New York and act Triumphant about kicking the living crap out of them?
