Rielle Hunter Said Elizabeth Edwards Had Bad Energy

2008_08_rielleeliza.jpgNewsweek reporter Jonathan Darman has a "First Person" article, What Rielle Hunter Told Me, based on his interactions with "campaign filmmaker"-John Edwards's mistress before it was known she was John Edwards's mistress. Darman saw her on a commuter flight, as he followed the Edwards campaign back in July 2006, "I had no reason to suspect there was anything between them."

Hunter is portrayed as a New Age-y type, asking Darman what his astrological sign is and saying Edwards could be a "transformational leader" like Gandhi and Martin Luther King if he tapped into his heart more. The choice tidbit that the tabloids jumped on was how, during a lunch at the Aquagrill in Soho, Hunter says about Elizabeth Edwards, "I've only met her once. She does not give off good energy. She didn't make eye contact with me."
And when she was finally fired by the Edwards campaign, Hunter implied Elizabeth Edwards was behind it, "Someday, the truth about her is going to come out."

The LA Times looks more closely at the webisodes Hunter produced for the campaign, Gawker notices the creepy moments in one video in particular, Slate looks at how the Edwards affair can recall John McCain's first marriage. Oh, and Hillary Clinton supporters, chew on this: Her former communications director Howard Wolfson thinks she would have won Iowa--and been the presidential nominee--if the Edwards thing had been revealed way back when.

Wolfson also says "the Clinton campaign was aware of the issue, but did not try to fan the flames." Sounds to me like the Clinton camp decided NOT to make this a story because... hmmm... maybe a scandalous report about marital infidelity would have reminded voters about Bill's baggage?

Or maybe they didn't think they needed it at the time, and were saving it in case Obama named Edwards as VP so they could derail him at the convention? Either way, Wolfson blew it again, should just disappear.

Well she's another Monica Lewinsky. Trash in the wrong place at the wrong time. Power is the greatest aphrodisiac and can attract some terrible people. I'm not excusing their behavior. People with aspirations (Edwards), have to forgo sensually pleasuring themselves whilst they seek of occupy high office. If Bubba had behaved himself in the Oval Office, Gore would have won easily and history would have recorded a better time for all of us. 9/11 not withstanding, I don't buy into the hype that Jr Bush saved our nation.

Rielle Hunter seems like a genuinely nasty piece of work in every way. And her life arc seems typical in this city-cokeheaded NYC party girl (or boy), shallow, cruel towards others (if you make Jay McInerney sick, then you must be off the scale), realize there is some void in their life, fill it with faux Eastern religion and new-ageisms, while never really changing anything about yourself. Ugh, it says a lot about Edwards that he would take up with her. I know Elizabeth Edwards has forgiven him, but I still feel so bad for her.

she definitely is no Monica. Monica was the portly pepperpot. She was cute and would have been gorgeous if she lost 30 pounds. This chick is gross. Thank god Edwards didn't become prez cause his decision making skills are highly suspect. Let me cheat on my dying wife with an uggo who looks like she bags groceries at wegmans.

Yes, Rielle, that bad vibe? That was the cancer.

Stay far, far away from "new age-y" women. They are f**ked in the head.

Reille Hunter's "five minutes of fame" aren't completely burned up: when that love-child of hers grows up and finally learns the truth about this solipsistic fraud of a person, she's in for an additional .5 minutes of fame.

That's the breaks, Hillary. She'd have been damned if she used that against Edwards and damned if she didn't. Best forget it.

Men who lie & cheat on their wives & families are not men.

Men who expose their children-- particluarly small children --to their deceitful ways of life are worse.

And men who treat their dying wife like this don't even deserve to be called human.
