Record Crowd Comes Out for First Favre Practice

2008_08_favrepractice.jpgMore than 10,500 fans went out to Hofstra University yesterday to see Brett Favre take his first snaps as a New York Jet. The crowd was the most to ever come out to a Jets practice, over four times what you would normally see at training camp. With brand new #4 jerseys in limited supply, some in attendance even broke out the cheeseheads to show their love for the new quarterback. The hysteria was so overwhelming that fans "even cheered Favre for throwing the ball out of bounds when there was no receiver open." Head Coach Eric Mangini announced that Favre definitely would start Saturday's first preseason game against the Redskins at the Meadowlands.
