Bouncer Choked Out at Hamptons Bar Dies

2008_08_oddone.jpgAndrew Reister, a Long Island corrections officer who worked a second job as a Southampton Bouncer, died yesterday after he had been choked out by a customer earlier in the week. Reister was allegedly choked out for over a minute by Anthony Oddone (pictured) after the two got into a scuffle after Reister told him to stop dancing on a table. Oddone, a college golfer and country-club caddie, has been charged with first degree assault for the time being. "How ironic it's another golfer who took him out," the victim's wife Stacy Reister lamented. Oddone will appear in court on Tuesday.

was the southhampton publick house known as a rowdy bar? I thought it was a beer geek destination.
why is oddone held at Riker's? Crime must be really down in NYC if we are taking in Suffolk County's criminals.

Have you ever been to Rikers? This guy choked out a corrections officer, sending this kid to Rikers was no mistake...

You can bet that he got "the treatment" when he got there, too.

"choked out?"
Perhaps "choked" or "strangled?"

nope never been to riker's but know a CO who work's there, I have been to what was once known as Rahway state prison.
Southhampton to Queens is quite a long bumpy ride and he probably got the seat with no seat belt, right?

"how ironic it's another golfer who took him out."
it's incredibly ironic...stunningly ironic...amazingly ironic
this takes irony and squeezes it untill it screams...if it got anymore ironic...it would'nt...be..ironic...

Someone's been watching alot of ultimate fighting.

"Choked out"??? Grammar people, grammar!

I also think the term "choked out" is odd. I've never heard that phrase before.

It's a phrase used in MMA, as #6 alluded to.

choked out is like standing on line.

choked out is like standing on line.

Agreed.

Yo, let me conversate with you for a minute.

Maybe it's from the past tense verb, punched out, as in, "I seen him him punch her out".

>>Oddone will appear in court on Tuesday.

Oh, he's white, he's a golfer, he's got enough dough to be hanging out in The Hamptons....just give him the requisite wrist slap and let him get back to golfing and yachting.

Thats pretty messed up. To kill someone after choking them for a minute had to have been a carotid choke, and you need to know a little something to know how to pull one of those off. Unlike a windpipe choke, where you stop someone's breathing ability, a carotid choke stops the bloodflow to the brain. And if you know that much, you should know that a carotid choke will render someone unconcious in 6-10 seconds, anything past that is (pardon the term) overkill, and dangerous.

"Choked out" is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu term used in MMA. It refers to the effect of chokeholds that render the recipient unconscious ("out") by compressing the external carotid arteries, restricting blood flow to the brain.

BJJ did not invent the term "choked out". People really need to stop attributing everything MMA-related to BJJ.

The reason Oddone was sent to Riker's Island instead of Riverhead Jail, where people out here would normally go after being arrested, is that Andrew Reister worked at Riverhead Jail. The authorities thought it would be a "conflict of interest" to have him there. I think it would have resulted in swift justice and would have save the tax payers ALOT of money on the trial.

That is perfect-are you out of your mind? MAybe you can say that to the 40 year widow, her 4 and 8 year old children...no regard for life much?
