Last Night's Action: Some Good News On The Field

2006_04_syankeeslogo.jpg

  • Yankees 5 Texas 2: The news before the game wasn’t good; Joba has tendinitis of the rotator cuff. The plan is to shut him down for a week and then see if he can throw. Who knows if Joba returns, and Ian Kennedy will now start for the Yankees this weekend, but at least the news on the field was good. Sidney Ponson did enough to keep the team in the game and Wilson Betemit had a big double. Mariano Rivera returned from back spasms to earn the save. The Yankees couldn’t escape without an injury however as Pudge Rodriguez had to leave the game after blocking the plate in the 2nd.
After the game, Derek Jeter dedicated the win to Bobby Murcer. Murcer had been honored earlier in the day with a memorial service that many of the current Yankees attended in Oklahoma City.
  • San Diego 4 Mets 2: Pedro had a rough first, but settled down to give the Mets six-plus innings of solid pitching. Unfortunately, David Wright misplayed a grounder in the seventh that allowed the go-ahead run to score.
  • Brett Farve Reportedly Traded To The Jets: Nothing is official yet and won't be until the morning, but it sounds like the Jets just solved their QB problem.

Favre, Favre, Favre!

Dear Brett,

You are no longer above the team and or own them, in fact we own you now, you also do not get a free pass like you did in Green Bay, nor will you be treated like your human waste droppings don't stink. Welcome to New York, every move will be scrutinized, ever INT you gunsling into triple coverage will result in various food items thrown unto the field. If we can boo Derek Jeter, you certainly can and will be crucified. Other than that welcome and smile for now!
