Apparent Suicide Intersects with Love Lane

2008_08_lovelans.jpgYesterday at around 4:40 p.m., reports came in that a male was found dead, from an apparent stabbing, in a brownstone on Hicks Street, at the corner of Love Lane in Brooklyn Heights. Today the NY Sun says that the "42-year-old man [Graham Barnett] was found dead with multiple stab wounds to his torso"--he was reportedly found in the bathtub and the police recovered knives from the scene. It is suspected that Barnett, who had lived in the neighborhood for 30 years and was married with two twin daughters, committed suicide.

As a CSI junkie, I can't believe "multiple stab wounds to his torso" sounds like suicide.

i used date a girl across the street. great hood.

Ouch. Stabbing myself to death would not be my choice for suicide. Hard to believe. I bet the wife, girlfriend, or even a boyfriend did it.

Never really heard that one before, "Stabbed himself to death". I mean I can understand a single good fatal stab or cut a la sepuku but MULTIPLE times?. Sounds kinda unnecessarily painful. This suicidal option must surely rate right alongside with "boiled himself to death" in popularity.

It's a little too "Kurosawa" for that particular neighborhood. Upper West Side? Much more believable.

A man was clearly suffering, and left behind a wife and two young children. This is a sad, extremely tragic situation for the Barnetts as well as their friends and neighbors. At this moment, we should all mourn Graham’s passing and wish the best to his family.
