Mary-Kate Olsen Still Mum on Ledger's Death

080408mko.jpgThe NYPD may have closed their probe into Heath Ledger’s fatal overdose, but federal investigators are still looking into the case. Or trying to look in, anyway – the Post reports that Mary-Kate Olsen is refusing to speak with investigators. Olsen, who was the first person called when her masseuse found Ledger’s body last January, is seeking immunity from prosecution in exchange for talking to the feds. DEA investigators are particularly interested in determining the source of Ledger’s OxyContin, for which he did not have a prescription. The Post has it that Olsen may be subpoenaed; sources say the DEA also had to threaten to subpoena the NYPD to get the department to hand over their Ledger files.

UPDATE:
Everybody listen up! Mary-Kate Olsen has just issued a statement:

Despite tabloid speculation, Mary-Kate Olsen had nothing whatsoever to do with the drugs found in Heath Ledger's home or his body, and she does not know where he obtained them.

Regarding the Government's investigation, at Ms. Olsen’s request, we have provided the Government with relevant information including facts in the chronology of events surrounding Mr. Ledger's death and the fact that Ms. Olsen does not know the source of the drugs Mr. Ledger consumed.

We don't know the source of the information being quoted in the media regarding the Government's inquiry, but these descriptions are incomplete and inaccurate.

Confusing matters further, earlier today WNBC reported, contrary to the Post article, that Olsen has already been issued a subpoena.

It doesn't matter if you are a little troll. Money buys you everything. Yes sheknok, even freedom.

Usage of OTCs by celebs is rampant and the Feds are right to continue their investigation since the NYPD seem to have dropped the ball. Bring down the Trollsen twins!

If there is nothing new to say or not being involved then what is stopped Mary Kate from talking? Is she scared of something?

Look at Heath Ledger in Batman and what a gifted actor he was. Look at his grieving family in Australia, and then look at some stupid pills. If this creature figured in his death then she needs to answer for that. Something bad happened and she lawyered up.

That's one scary picture. Why isn't Mary-Kate mentioned in the same breath as Lindsay, Paris and Brittany in stories about messed up girls?

In the picture above, she sort of looks like Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker. His performance in The Dark Knight was okay. All this Oscar talk is complete hype.

She is absolutely right to lawyer up and to seek immunity from prosecution for whatever information she might have.

But what is there to hide here? If she has nothing to hide and Ledger was apparently a friend or acquaintance then she should help with the investigation.

And why did the NYPD dropped this and left it to the feds?

She should do a soap opera style switcheroo with her good twin sister and plan her escape.

I believe that she shares a brain with her sister and she's the junior partner. She is less that a half-wit.

People invoke their fifth amendment rights when the testimony they give will incriminate themselves. Not good Mary Kate. What are you hiding? Did you supply the oxycontin? The truth will set you free!

She herself looks overly medicated. Obviously she is hiding something or she is just seeking the attention she once had like 15 years ago.

The guy killed himself. Why look to blame others? Doesn't matter who provided the Oxy. He took them. He was stupid and is dead. End of story.

#18, callousness and disaffected New Yorker attitude aside, the man died, family probably wants thorough investigation, feds are taking care of it, Olsen should respond (unless she has somethin to hide).

Period.

"Why isn't Mary-Kate mentioned in the same breath as Lindsay, Paris and Brittany in stories about messed up girls?"

No DUI, and no "known" drug problems. They just look like hell.

They should have a Skank Off on national T.V. to decide the title once and for all.
