The CW has turned all of the criticisms of their last ad campaign, into pull quotes for their latest one. With a new season of Gossip Girl coming up soon, and their new posters proclaim the show is "Mind-blowingly Inappropriate." The quote isn't from an entertainment rag, but rather the Parents Television Council watchdog organization. The NY Post gets credit for another ad, which takes their quote that calls the show: "a nasty piece of work." While the PTC is still concerned about the CW's program, the org is semi-appreciative, noting "normally, we have to pay for our outdoor advertising."

oh yeah!! i was waiting for this gossip girl post. i am going to watch this show this season jen. (seriously)
Wow, the PTC having a sense of humor about this is NOT what I was expecting.
Does the Parents Television Council recommend paying attention to what your kids watch?
robingee - Their motto is "Because our children are watching"... from their FAQ: "The fact that parents are ultimately responsible for their children's upbringing does not free the entertainment industry from taking responsibility for their product."
Yeah, I guess that's reasonable.. but then the fun analogies begin: "The assertion that the sole responsibility lies with parents is a self-justifying claim usually made by people who wish to evade accountability. It is much like pumping sewage into a town's river, while maintaining that parents are responsible for protecting the health of their own children."
Watching Gossip Girl is like shitting in the river.. yup.
Where's Tipper Gore?
And just when I thought I couldn't love this show any more! I appreciate a program that can have such a good sense of humor about its detractors. And the PTC come off as rational and almost humorous, which makes me believe that they had some sort of outside counsel craft their response.
