People Shows Off Brad and Angelina's Twins

2008_08_brangelinatwins.jpgAfter teaming up with Hello! magazine to shell out $14 million for photographs of Knox Leon and Vivenne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt, aka Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's twins, People showed off the cover of their special double issue with the new additions to the Jolie-Pitt family tonight on their website. The issue will go on stands tomorrow (interesting, since People's latest issue was just went on sale Friday), and here's an excerpt from People:

"It is chaos, but we are managing it and having a wonderful time," Jolie tells PEOPLE of daily life at the Château Miraval in Provence, France, where the couple's four older children – Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2 – have been enjoying a summer of outdoor play (hide-and-seek is a favorite) on the château's sprawling grounds.

Adds Pitt: "[It's] still a cuckoo's nest."

Fortunately, they already have some household helpers. "[Shiloh] and Z pick out [the twins'] clothes and help change and hold them," says Jolie. "It's sweet – they are little mommies."

There's even a little picture of previous People cover baby Shiloh, now two-years-old, with her little sister. Since there's only the cover photo available, the People.com website has its own special Brangelina section.

Back in 2006, People had reportedly paid $4 million (donated to a charitable foundation Jolie and Pitt started) for baby pictures of Shiloh, and that issue sold 2.2 million copies, the most since a 9/11 issue which sold 4 million copies. It's unclear what share of the $14 million People paid, but the entire amount will once again be donated to charity. No matter whether it's profitable--it's about a brand promise to People readers. At least that's what People's publisher Paul Caine told the NY Times in May, "The consumer’s expectation is if the photos are going to be available, I’m going to see them in People. If we don’t get them, we miss that brand promise, we lose the halo that goes with that.”

In news that's even more thrilling and relevant, ground was broken this week for a new machine-tools factory in Pakistan.

What a way to pimp out your baby. Pure disgusting in every way possible.

At least they donated the money to charity. That's a reasonable price to pimp out your kids.

Hopefully photos of Jolie breast feeding her twins will be published as well. We can only hope.

Good the money is donated.
The point is who put $14 M on the table for the pics.
Btw, how much cost this number of the magazine and how much is the normal price?

Okay, this is actually the last straw for me. If I wanted to read about obnoxious celebrity gossip/non-events, I would actually have a subscription to People and Us Weekly and the rest of those sycophantic rags. Or I'd be reading the blog of that fat starfucking troll Perez Hilton.

I read Gothamist for actual news and events in New York. And until Jen can maintain that without falling back on her Page Six fascinations for headlines, this site has lost me as a reader.

My god. That baby right there is already well trained and ready for show business. Look at that smile!

Creepy!

:) !!!!

Do they have Metamucil coupons on the back of the cover?

"They are little mommies."

As if fathers can't hold children? This will do well for Shiloh's developing masculinity.

man, everytime you have a baby it ages you 5 years. Angelina is starting to look like Debra Messing in the last year of Will and Grace and that's not a good thing. I look at all my friends wives after pregnancy and they look like moses after seeing the burning bush. This is the biggest reason why people get divorced. Once you get pregnant you get old and ugly. Dudes like hot chicks, but they are afraid to admit that they are shallow so they become passive aggressive with their wives because they've lost interest and then pettiness ensues and then divorce comes.

Wow BH, that is a truly inspiring post. Anyhoo, I totally agree there is no reason for Gothamist to post this story since there is no correlation to NYC.

Well, NYC is the media capital of the city (world?) and People paying millions for baby pictures (that are most likely going be unprofitable) is newsworthy.

Yes it sure looks like they were not born
of the Montauk Monster.
Cute anyway, and their presence has given
money to charity, perhaps Jolie can buy some
more of my art work??

Isn't this so fucking sweet? Who fucking cares? She is pumping out kids like a cockroach-enough already

I have to agree that there is no reason for Gothamist to post this story.

Anyone notice that Shiloh looks like a live version of chipette from alvin and the chipmunks?

Personally, I think it's awesome that some charity (or charities) will get $14 million dollars that they wouldn't have otherwise.

Babyhitler watches Will and Grace. LOL

#18 - I don't watch it as much as incidentally catch it when my gay friend has it on.

"Dudes like hot chicks"
And chicks like smart dudes!
and neither get that!

Newsworthy Noooooooooooooot

Babyhitler has gay friends.

I should care about this gossip because... ???

Fuck them. Jen as someone who founded this blog could you be a little more than a gossiper without spell check?

Hey, you can always send your tips for story ideas to tips(at)gothamist(dot)com!

But don't worry--I'm planing some super panda coverage in the future.
