Don't get the impression that Cashman has won ANYTHING. The Yanks won with the talent of Bob Watson and look where that got him. Cashman inherited a world champion and has not been able to duplicate their previous successes. But... who else is available? Take a look @ what is out there before signing him. He's not a proven winner at all...

cutting edge reporting; this is a no brainer for the yankees. pavano was on everybody's wish list, no way to predict what a douchebag he would become. cashman has done extremely well in managing his owners, team and resources. makes epstien look like the boston pile of shit that he is.

Every single GM has a few mistakes on his resume. Cashman has more victories than losses on his. If the Yankees don't keep him on he'll have no trouble finding another GM gig immediately... and he'll be likely to hurt the Yankees more if he's in someone else's front office than he would where he is now.

Despite his incompetence with judging pitching, I say bring him back and give him the money he wants. Just look at the other GMs out there and you'll see Cashman is talented at his job.
