The Daily News reports Hillary Clinton will not "file a formal request to the convention asking to be nominated along with Barack Obama" at the Democratic National Convention next month. The source said though "People are still circulating petitions on her behalf...this is a done deal" (the News points out that delegates can still vote for whomever they want). In other news, a Clinton-for-VP group says Clinton is not on the VP shortlist and the junior Senator from NY is rumored to be giving the keynote address at the convention on August 26.

well, that's big of her.
marvin k. mooney......
After seeing the absolute slime that Hillary & Bill passed off as politics during the primaries, there is no way that I could ever trust either one of them again. The idea of her supporters placing her name into nomination "for historical purposes" makes me very, very wary. She & Bill are planning something crooked to get her the nomination... no matter what.
Funny that, after being such a defender of the Clintons, I realize now what many of my republican friends seemed to know about them all along.
sommelier, don't feel bad, and take heart knowing that it wasn't always just republican's trying to call them on their shit. they are scum, and truly are self serving, narcissistic, and greedy. as a new yorker i am still incensed that she carpetbagged her way in here, at the expense of a good man, used us as nothing more than a soapbox for her campaign. hopefully she'll show more of her true colors and not run for re-election, just so she can cash in on all the favors owed to her. i do feel bad for women of a certain age, they truly believed in her as their champion, and viewed her as their last hope to realize what they had worked so hard for over the years. there are countless women, of much higher caliber and qualification that will step into the arena in the very near future, and hillary and her shamlessness will be forgotten.
...but something tells me that Keynote Address will be the opening salvo in her 2012 presidential campaign. She may not know much but she can read the polls.
It's a PR move to try to keep her within the loop while giving the impression of NOT caring about staying in the loop. Same ol' same ol'.
Her campaign proved Hillary to be very spiteful & groping by refusing to back out even when it was already abundantly clear that she had no chance. By pushing her candidacy pointlessly and the quasi-smear campaign she ran against Obama she came across as a desperate & pitiful fool willing to do and say anything in order to get what she wants.
Then again judging by very recent history we Americans have a propensity for voting for the most pitiful fool.
Oh yeah, Hillary has this all planned to a T.
