Called Beautiful Burnout: The ArtJam of Underworld, the exhibit is named for one of their songs on the Oblivion with Bells album; the exhibit is described as “an intoxicating confluence of graceful macro-photography, compelling videos and film, lush and mesmerizing sound, layered collages of street snapshots and a poetic diary of painting, images and text.” – John Del Signore

THEATER: Melvin Van Peebles’s 1971 musical Ain’t Supposed to Die a Natural Death has been revived by Classical Theater of Harlem and will be bouncing around different city parks on weekends through August 16th. Tonight the politically-outspoken portrait of inner city street life is at Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem. The Times says the “lively show tweaks the conventions of musical theater when it doesn’t dispense with them outright. A series of loosely strung together vignettes, it’s short on plot and traditional songs, but long on innovation.” – John Del Signore
