McCain Says Obama's a "Celeb," Obama Says McCain Takes the "Low Road"

The presidential election will be here before we know it. And we'll know it because we'll have seen a hundred million attack ads from each side! Yesterday, the campaigns of both Senator John McCain and Senator Barack Obama released sharp ads criticizing each other.

McCain's camp compared Obama's rock star (Barackstar?) status with that of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. See it below:

Obama's spokesman slammed the ad and the Democrat's team unveiled their response, the "Low Road"--an ad noting how McCain's campaign is in the past and uses "old [negative] politics." There's even a photo of McCain and President Bush together:

Of course, the Obama campaign is trying to deal with a celebrity downer: Rapper Ludacris released a song attempting to boost Obama called "Politics/Obama is Here," but not only does he slam McCain (he belongs in a wheelchair) and Bush, he calls out Senator Hillary Clinton:

Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant. McCain don't belong in ANY chair unless he's paralyzed. Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped.
The Obama campaign has condemned the song, saying Ludacris should be "ashamed."

You know, I think Barack actually has a shot at the presidency now. Just because his name is saturated in the media all the time. You see McCain's name in the papers rarely and it's only in reference to Obama. Every media outlet you go to it's always Obama this and Obama that. Good and Bad. CNN should just change their name to Obama News and Fox runs negative editorials and shit but it REVOLVES around Obama. So Obama is basically getting free publicity that McCain can not. Combined with George Bush's inadequecy that opened the door and his war chest he should definitely be the frontrunner.

This is the best that McCain can do? Comparing Obama to Paris and Britney?

The Washington Post has already declared him to be President.

McCain has some catching up to do.

They are politicians, so by definition they are both on the "Low Road," although historically Chicago politicians tend to be subterranean in both tactics and those who vote for them.

why didn't obama use the picture of mccain & bush in their lover's embrace?

Ludacris really should be ashamed of himself. Couldn't he come up with better lyrics?

Do they really believe that anyone who's on the fence about who they're going to vote for will reasonably equate Obama with Britney Spears or Paris Hilton???? That's the kind of political commercial that will go down in history as a negative example of what to do in a campaign.

"This is the best that McCain can do? Comparing Obama to Paris and Britney?"

Apparently bitter, snarky, green-eyed jealousy is all he has left.

The idea that only Obama is being covered by the media is quite simply a joke.

Normally, I'd be against Obama, because he's a Democrat. But the Republicans, with their borrow and spend mentality, are really selling out the next generation to benefit the greedy baby boomers.

This election is a referendum on the corrupt baby boomer (and older) generation. They have to start being voted out of office, and it starts with the Presidency.

McCain's campaign is acting without any sense of decency at this point. They're just blindly flailing.

Yes!! Ludacris should be ashamed because his lyrics are wack! Hilary "I'll do anything for a vote" Clinton has given us plenty of ammunition to work with...he should try again. And grill Bill while he's at it...

All you "Hip Hop" producers etc should work hard and do something "Off the chain",..... that's word, son...

You know that Lupe Fiasco would have knocked that shit out of the park.

Is it just me or does it sound like the same woman narrated both commercials? Get off the fence lady!!

I would understand if McCain actually made a point in the ad.

Being popular doesn't mean that you shouldn't be a president or have any bearing on that question. That's a retarded connection to make.

How did they get the same lady to do both voice-overs? Impressive...

Deca, the amusing thing is: Lots of people think the Democrats are big spenders and NOT the GOP.

Sen. Obama still has an uphill battle. I'm just glad his campaign is on the ball and responding to Sen. McCain's attacks.

Sen. John Kerry waited way too long to respond to the lies about him.

At the height of his 'free media' attention and before we enter the negative campaign season in full, Obama leads McCain by 5% in the blended polls and actually has trailed McCain in some. No doubt McCain is one of the worst campaigners around but the voters are stubbornly refusing to get on the Obama bus. He'd better step it up and start talking about real issues, in detail. And since Hillary is out, he needs to pick anyone with a pulse and get this V.P. bullshit out of the way.

Both are big spenders, not the traditional Republican way. But the Democrats still spend much much much more.

Yes, the GOP leads us into $3T wars. But that's still far less than the unfunded entitlements that Democrats have and will continue to try and push through. But both parties support Medicaid and Medicare and the pharm bills that are not even paid. We have over $50T in domestic entitlements. Ugh. That's not getting paid.

Socialized health care would exacerbate our borrowing crisis to a dollar collapse level if the Democrats ever tried it.

Kojak - Columnists don't speak for the paper. Furthermore, Milbank's version of the Dem. Caucus meeting is not in line with every other account of the meeting.

All McCain's ad says is "People like Obama more than me."

Does Obama have a sex tape or a crotch shot which I dont know about?

why is bologna spelled baloney?

Barack Obama and John McCain have made recent statements on US offshore oil drilling while on the US presidential campaign trail. Well, Offshore Drilling is a huge issue right now and rightly so. Between the desire to deal with the economic mess that is being spurred by the price of oil and the on-going longer-term concern of global warming, how do we address all of this? Check out Obama and McCain in side-by-side videos on clash/US Offshore Oil Drilling comparing their recentcomments on ANWR and offshore oil drilling. It is, if nothingelse, very interesting to hear their perspective.
