While it's not as scary as a dozens of rats running around a fast food restaurant, seeing a rat at your local Duane Reade can be alarming. WABC 7's Eyewitness News thought so when they spotted a rat at the Broadway and West 94th Street location. The Health Department is on the way to investigate, but an employee reportedly told WABC 7 "the rat entered from the street when a customer opened the door."

They should give it a job. I bet a rat could hold 2 items up to a scanner faster than the slow-motion robots DR normally employs.
Perhaps he confused it with the National Institute of Mental Health?
and people are surprised by this? C'mon now. This is NYC.
If it happened within the past 24 hours, the rat is surely still on line.
Why is this news?
...to get some Ice Breakers gum.
Rats need aspirin too.
All these rats in the city and the Port Authority can't figure out something better to do with the cats around JFK than to kill them. Idiots.
I just saw a mouse on mercer and houston just minding his business, hiding a car, in broad day light ...even!
it's fine, they are just the cutest lil things!!!
Two classic gothamist stories: stickers in soho and rats(mice) in a store.
the rat would have a better personality than 99% of the people that work at DRs.
So, a rat enters Duane Reade and gets some shampoo. He goes to the counter to pay.
Cashier takes his money and says to him: "We usually don't get many rats buying shampoo".
"Yeah, and at these prices I'm not surprised"
Thank you very much and good night!
Oh. Great. That's my Duane Reade.
Dear Duane Reade: you don't need 4 billion locations. You just need more than one cashier per store.
And the parks are just teeming with squirrels - rats with nice fur coats and better p.r.
I call for a DR boycott. Seriously they are evil
If he went in to pick up his bubonic plague medication, the pharmacist will have humiliated him by yelling out his name and prescription for all to hear, poor little rat.
:)
That's how they do it at DR!
Maybe the rat was applying for a cashier position.
The rat must have had a Chase card.
That rat chewed through the last bits of a dead junkie and needed an OxyContin fix bad.
