As you may know, it's been a major headache trying to get tickets to The Dark Knight at New York City's only IMAX theater at AMC Loews Lincoln Square. The Fandango website only sells advance tickets in seven day blocks, which have been flying faster then free Bon Jovi tickets. And even when the next block of tickets go on sale, the options for most working stiffs are limited to a single screening per day at 8:45 p.m., with the other closest show times at 12:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. If it's killing you that you haven't yet had The Dark Knight: The IMAX Experience yet, there is some information that might interest you after the jump.
According to a friendly Loews staffer, the next block of advance tickets for The Dark Knight: The IMAX Experience is supposed go on sale every Tuesday at 3 p.m. But they're already on sale now! GO! GO! GO! And don't forget to show up early for prime seats; last Saturday night the line was already over 200 people long an hour and fifteen minutes before showtime!

Or if you have a car, just go to long island....
Not the same experience to see it outside the city, it's Gotham City (even though they filmed it in Chicago) after all.
suckers!
saw it on imax on the 19th!
(yeah, i'm a geek)
*it's
It was 4 lines--you needed to put that after the jump?
Or you can go to West Nyack (Rockland County). There is one in the Palisades Center.
If you have the time and actually go buy the tickets in person, you can go for whatever show you want - we got ours 2 weeks in advance that way.
I'm glad this item is getting so much attention. NY needs an IMAX at least in every borough. Are you listening, developers?
this is what investigative journalism is all about.......thank you gothamist!
i hear sheepshead bay UA is gonna become IMAX.
@ ziggyziggy -- well by the time that happens Dark Knight will probably be available on the network TV
Finally, a little gratitude. You are welcome, kinojesi!
WTF? I thought fandango was already selling tickets every day in advance? I don't understand why they show it at 9:30,1:45.500 and 8:45 and a night showing only. You could totally squeeze in 2-3 more showings per day if you actually just showed it at 7,9:30,12,2:45,6:00,8:45, 10:30. thinking of going to an early morning show to avoid the crowds. Didn't want to pay fandango the extra 2 bucks but I'm at the end of my bat rope. Goddamn you 1 Imax theatre in NY! I hate pretending to have seen the movie with my friends. It's always "have you seen the dark knight?" and I'm always like "of course! remember the time that Joker used that kryptonite ring on batman?" It's like the 40 year old virgin "it feels like a bag of sand when you're touching it" scene.
anytime john del!
here's one to investigate, i heard kips bay is next to become imax this november. check out the imax website.
I just got back from the movie. Waiting for I-Max seats was well worth the effort. Batman and I-Max were made for each other. Reserve early, get there early, bring your own popcorn.
You can also purchase tickets further in advance by actually going to the theater. My wife and I bought tickets for a show that was more than a week away tonight.
Note: You CANNOT do this at the machines bordering the edge of the lobby. You need to go to the actual ticket counter. I don't know how far ahead you can buy, but we bought Aug. 6th tickets on July 29th, and the woman who sold us the tickets seemed to indicate that all of next week was available. (And yes, we were able to get the 8:45pm showing.)
