Carroll Gardens "Cat Man" Evicted, Dumped and Fired

0807muthc.jpgThis week a story got some ink that raised the question: can't a man just save a cat? 49-year-old Chris Muth was put in a psych ward (where they called him "cat man") for doing just that...but upon his release the NY Post reports that he lost his home, his job and his girlfriend. The Carroll Gardens condo owner told him, while hospitalized, that he was "a nice guy" but "too exciting" and had to leave the residence. He then lost a job for being away too long -- the contractor he was working for told him: "You should have shot the cat, left it there and come to work." And the cherry on top, he was dumped by a girlfriend who claims "His optimism approached delusion." WNBC has a video interview with Muth, who now says "If I had known all this was going to happen, I might have found another way to get the cat."

realize this: i know him. he has mental problems. he really just needs money and creeated the whole thing to sue and profit.

he never" lived" in that building. he was supposed to repair while the owner was away for a long time. instaed he moved in and didnt pay rent. He truely needs meds. Possible owes IRS. and some "men" in the neihborhood.

None believes in you Chris. Hence, why you are in this mess.

    His quote is enlightening.

"If I had known all this was going to happen, I might have found another way to get the cat."

If you were a reasonable chap, you would have found another way. As I always say, beware of do-gooders.

Leave my girlfriend out of this...she believes in me more than anyone...I don't know how this got twisted....

Here's hoping this guy keeps his "delusional optimism".

I don't know. I think we should throw a party for this man. I like animal-saving heros. He did the right thing.

  • bigandtall

Yeah, it does sound like he may be a little bit screwy despite the heroics.

  • eyekantspel

nothing wrong with trying to save a cat, but there are normal ways of doing so. sounds like a lot of people who know this guy better than any of us independently came to the conclusion that he has some problems.

That's not what "beg/begs/begged the question" means. Look it up.

Well, good riddance to his girlfriend, who obviously didn't believe in her BF. No matter how crazy you are, you should have the right mate! One who believes in you! Life's too short!

There's no room in this world for heroes.
