Something Screwy in McDonald's Apple Pie

072508mcdonaldsapplepie.jpgA Queens woman has just joined the growing family of New Yorkers who've found foreign objects in their fast food. Last week a man found a serrated knife in his Subway sandwich, now a 25-year-old Julisa Caba says she discovered a metal screw when she bit into a McDonald’s apple pie. A Health Department spokesman tells the Daily News, “The McDonald's [on 21st Street in Astoria] will receive a full sanitary inspection, with additional focus spent on the possible source of the screw.” Franchise owner Michael Giunta may also be in trouble for failing to factor in the screw when displaying the apple pie’s calorie info.

Its a screw. Accidents happen. Do they even make the apple pies at the restaurant or do they just warm them up?

Better a screw than a roach.

How are they investigating the McDonalds for that? All that crap is made in a factory somewhere, not at the McD's in Astoria.

She's lying. She heard the Subway knife guy is going to sue for a large amount and now she wants to cash in. Happens all the time when one incident like that get s reported.

I found ham in my sandwich.

bring back the Fried Apple Pie

Don't eat at McDonald and this wouldn't happen.

Had it happen to me at a diner on the west side once in a chili-burger. Luckily it fell out after a bite and onto a plate. They threw out the batch of chili and the problem was solved. No harm, no lawsuit.

[2] is right. What idiot at DOH thinks they make those apple pies on site? It was probably made somewhere four states away, well out of NYC DOH jurisdiction.

When I was waitressing, I once served a salad with a large piece of metal in it. I had made the salad and did not add any extras. I think a piece of the fridge fell into it while it was chilling. So mistakes like that can be innocent. Although once I dipped someone's silverware in the toilet cuz they were giving me a rough time!

I ate some fast food recently and found all this disgusting sodium in it. Do I get to sue? Or do I suffer quietly like hundreds of millions of other people?
