  • The body of the 16-year-old girl who disappeared last Friday while swimming at Rockaway Beach was found under the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge yesterday, and positively identified today. The death was ruled an “accidental drowning."

is there any sort of petition or anything to keep McCarren Pool from being turned back into a real pool/selling point for luxury condos.

while I'd be stoked for all of the local kids in the neighborhood to have a pool to swim in, i think its actually a great place to see shows, and will turn into a yuppie mating grounds.

Eh - let it become a pool again - it's not the best venue when you are in the sun cooking like a friend egg. I'll use it when its full.

As for the yuppies over at the condos next door, a bunch of screaming local kids probably won't be much of a selling point. I'll look for a hamptons bus parked outside as a new selling point.

And hey - what the heck was the deal with the dead body? That story seemed to die out kinda quick...

Californication is a great show.

The renovation plans for the new pool include a concert area as well. Apparently the shows have been such a big hit that a stage area is part of the plan now. The place is going to definitely be more upscale now but also have a lot more to offer and utilize the existing buildings as well. It looks like a pretty cool plan.
