Given the community battle between industry and residents, it is interesting to note that it is very doubtful that Pier 41 allows residences. Is there a loophole for reality TV residences? Shall the neighbors call the DOB? Does the building allow cooking or will they get take out from the Taco stands?

Red Hook is the perfect venue for these Real World rats to be totally and completely exploited. After they go to air, Pier 41 needs some kind of marker to tally the lives ruined.

It seems rather odd they're still calling it "The Real World" when the cast is now living in a set in a warehouse on the end of a pier.

plemeljr:

1. "Everyone realizes..." Who's everyone?

2. You looked on the NYC Buildings website, didn't you? Maybe you called 311? Did you ever think that maybe it takes some time for such information to be updated?

You're smart. Smarter than all of us. Yeah... you should audition for the Real World!

IF the Real World comes to Red Hook, it's going to probably be as big of an upset as Ikea was - it's not wanting and it's annoying, but not nearly as annoying as expected. Saying this doesn't condone or welcome... it's just seeing the crap and just not letting it ruin Red Hookers' days.

I really don't think it's going to be as bad as everyone is predicting. There's no way they'll be on the bus or subway on a regular basis. MTV film crews will probably spend a few days shooting bits of panoramic shots, exterior building shots, etc. but that stuff is minimal.

Think about it this way - there's bound to be a native NYer cast in the group who will want to spend minimal time in Red Hook. Neither will the other "characters" from AZ, CA, and PA. To them, Red Hook isn't the NYC they're signing up for. They'll work in Manhattan, booze in Manhattan, and sleep in Red Hook.

Relax, it'll be okay!

What the hell is wrong with you plemejr? Seriously. Let's keep the BEST squad and 311 busy with real safety enforcement. MTV putting up some walls and setting up cameras is not time to get your panties in a bunch. Jeeze

"My question is: how are they going to edit out their daily commute the fuck out of there?"

My guess is that they will probably get cars as they have in prior seasons. Otherwise, we will be seeing them on the F train a lot.

Everyone realizes that according to the NYC Department of Buildings Buildings Information System, there is no permit for any work at 204 Van Dyke Street.

I recommend that readers should exercise their right to call 3-1-1 or the Buildings Enforcement Safety Team (B.E.S.T.) squad at (212) 669-7043 to report any violations of DoB regulations.

These kids will most certainly NOT be hanging out in bars in Red Hook.

My question is: how are they going to edit out their daily commute the fuck out of there?

Please, for the love of god, get these guys some cars!!! I REALLY don't want to have to see cameras on the B61, in addition to all its other disadvantages.

Hopefully they'll cast some hot, slutty chicks (which is a given, its MTV)

I urge all Brooklynites to Canvas the bars in the red hook area, find these rejects and give them a hard time.
