Graffiti 4 Sale
Graffiti accessories have received the vending machine treatment! Animal reports that the "Smart Crew have come up with a great way to parlay their love of graffiti, piss off public paint hating politician Peter Vallone, and make some money in the process: vending machines that sell fat caps for spray paint."
The collective's art project is functional and they're currently looking for spots to place them. The vending machines currently sell .25 NY Fats and Rusto Fats (that price tag includes a fortune!) and there are future plans for machines that vend .50 Pink Dots, Gray Dots and German Outline caps.
Looks like Jake Bronstein's idea vending machine has some competition! But will any businesses actually take them up on the offer?

Vallone is a fucking douche who likes to have his name in the paper. I hope someone does a piece of his house.

And you're a douche who likes to have your name in these comments. I hope someone does a piece on your house.

These should sell well in Williamsburg.

Looks like you are the one who likes having your name in the comments the most spiritof76 considering you have the most comments on Gothamist.

I think the police should copy this idea and use surveillance cameras to identify the idiots who buy these. It should assist in arresting and prosecuting criminals.
If it works, the city should thank Jen Carlson and Jake Dobkin for helping to crack down on quality of life crimes.

oops, i mean Jake Bronstein. Sorry, when I read about street art here, I immediately think of its biggest supporter here, Dobkin. Jen Carlson is just a pretender, and only writes about it because (1) she thinks it makes her cool, and (2) when people respond to her posts it makes her feel relevant.

[4] The difference between you and me is that I comment while you troll. There's no useful content in any of your posts. Definitely the mark of someone with nothing to contribute but desperately wanting attention.

Insulting other users is quality content?

@eyekantspel
Why don't the police worry about catching real criminals instead of giving felony charges to some teenagers being mischievous?

these guys are funny... check out Smartcrewusa.com

lol... people really taking this serious when i'm sure they are doing it as a joke... even though I believe the machines are actually functional. I seen one at Sugar Headquarters SHQ on Rivington.

what the heck is a fatcap or rusto cap? is that some type of device you put on the spray can to make it spray a certain way?

@hoodlum
I think police should do both.
Police shouldn't just ignore smaller crimes because somewhere else bigger ones are being committed. A lot of times, cops catch the bigger criminals while enforcing smaller laws. Pull someone over for a traffic violation and find out he's a murderer, that sort of thing.
Why can't these low-level criminals, not all of whom are teenagers, respect other people's property and spray paint or express themselves their own property, or on a canvas.
We all have to pay money to replace the scratched windows on subway cars, and the general ugliness of people's initials and scribbling on signs, construction sites, walls.
teenagers being mischievous
mischevious means:
1. maliciously or playfully annoying.
2. causing annoyance, harm, or trouble.
3. roguishly or slyly teasing, as a glance.
4. harmful or injurious.
While annoying, graffiti isn't playful, nor is it roguishly or slyly teasing. definitions 2 and 4 seem most applicable. It seems that there is a lot of behavior that is both mischevious AND criminal.

When all those users do is troll, then they deserve the insults.

I know what mischief is. I didn't say they shouldn't punish vandals. I said they should focus on real crime. This country has the toughest laws in the world and that's why we have the most people in prison in the whole world. We need to ease up on punishment and trying to be "tough on crime". The punishment should fit the crime. And writing your name with some paint on a wall should not land you in prison.
@spiritof76
Making comments with one purpose but to insult and antagonize other users is trolling.

@jspatch
A fat cap makes the spray wider.
