MTV Continues Their Brooklyn Takeover

0807mtvlogo.jpgMTV has once again invaded Brooklyn; earlier this year the network dissected the Todd P scene, and last night they were right back at it, filming at the Market Hotel (or Harket Motel, which it has more recently been called). Reports say that a sign greeted show-goers last night saying, in short, that "MTV is filming and can use your likeness in all media that exists, or may exist in the future, and by being there you agree to be filmed, if you don’t agree, leave." The BushwickBK blogger worries that "the scene will implode (like poor grunge!)" and when he inquired about the network's presence, was suspicious of the answer: "they were just filming the bands to put up on mtv.com." Maybe one of the new Real World Brooklyn castmates is Todd P! Bands on the bill last night included Mae Shi and Ponytail; after MTV's appearance they were promptly moved into the "so over" column on indie-snob scorecards.

fuck that, ponytail is still awesome! thanks for the link!

There are 2.5 million people living in Brooklyn; more than 8 million people living in New York City; and, more than 19 million people in the metro area.

This isn't Bumeff, Saskatchewan, so please stop with the "MTV was filming here!" posts.

Is this why I see John Norris at every Todd P event that I attend?

And that doesn't even include that Real World guy who's running for Congress. Maybe they can help him with his campaign.

ponytail is definitely far from over, though I know that was supposed to be a joke.

unless there are plans for a new show featuring live performances by young, interesting bands then it'll definitely just be online. that would get no ratings in mtv's current market so it should be fair to take their 'online only' claim as truth.

but yeah, ponytail = amazing.

Kids who watch MTV remind me of pets that stare mesmerized by the image of other pets on tv. It's that basal.

@heywood,

yeah, i wasn't truly suspicious that the filming wasn't for mtv.com, they kind of missed the tone of that

they should have set them up in bensonhurst.

Who the fuck is Todd P?

I only watch MTV for Tila Tequila. Shes hot, in a Martian sort of way

My Source for new music is MTV
