Loft Hostel Opens in Brooklyn

phpMGSBJAPM.jpg

New York Loft Hostel is open for business and invites you and yours to "live like a hipster king"! The 1912 "original loft type building" offers up a pool, jacuzzi, 2000-sq-ft garden, bunk beds galore and wifi. But what's a hipster king without a hipster queen? The building is separated into male and female quarters; Curbed notes that "there's a 14-bed female dorm, 20-bed male dorm and a 22-bed mixed dorm." The loft is located at 249 Varet Street, and it'll cost you around $20-something per night -- upon a quick reservation booking test, to stay for all of August it would cost $838.57. That's some cheap rent right there!

Sounds utopian, but you know SOMETHING horrible will f#ck it up.

There could be some serious bedbuggery there. Hope they screen their guests a bit.

Are these people morons? They don't have the zoning to be renting this place out like an SRO. 249 Varet Street: shut it down.

that's not bad. i used to hostel-hopping for almost a month when i first moved to new york. some good some bad. the cheapest one i found, at $27 three years ago, was on upper east side (and surprisingly the cleanest too), but a little too tight, i guess that's new york for you.

this hostel looks great though, looks spacious, and jacuzzi with 2000-sq-ft garden? omg, you dont get that in most hostels. besides, new hostel, means cleaner place, less likely to have bed bugs, better facilities. if it had opened 3 years ago, i would definitely try it out.

[8] Do you have any idea what hostels are for? They're inexpensive accommodations for visitors, not to live in permanently. Try looking up a hotel room and comparing the rate to the $20 a night here. Think most young travelers can afford even a Brooklyn hotel for a few nights?

    Such a good idea

    Don't hate people

Can't you just see the line forming to get in?

I pay 800 bucks to live in prospect heights.

    how is this a deal?

It's great rent until the person sleeping next to you beats your head in for snoring.

Complimentary bed bugs with every visit.

Looks like everybody puts their stuff in one of those low storage cabinet next to each bed.

That's actually a good price. Last I saw, most hostels charged at least $30 a night. But I'd be worried about bedbugs.

Kind of like Rykers Island but with nicer window coverings. Where does one keep their stuff, lockers?

    more like camp west elm.

I always thought you could make a killing opening a hostel down near the mckibben dorms. I'm glad some enterprising prick actually did it.
