sort of off topic but on topic at the same time. Why is there only 1 IMAX Theatre for the ENTIRE NYC area? It's fucking ridiculous! Tickets are sold out for the entire week! 10 am and 2 am showing too. You would think that they'd understand that NYers could afford more IMAX theatres.

@famdoc

Angelica?? You've got to be kidding. You would rather go down to that hellhole? Those screen aren't any bigger than what was shown at my high school sex ed class yet they want the full $11.50 or whatever they're charging now. Probably what was shown at my sex ed class would be much more interesting than what's currently shown over there.

they're making it out to be way worse than it was. sure, it was stuffy but "everyone was sweating profusely" is total hyperbole.

it seems to only happen there for the midnight screenings so maybe their system is on a timer.

it was uncomfortable, but not worth blogging about - everyone had a good time watching the joker make the pencil disappear.

#4, Mean, but hilarious.

#5, what a gentle, understanding soul you are. Unfortunately, A/C is not running in movie theaters 365 days a year. If the A/C is not working and the staff and management handled it as you described AMC Lowes did, I'm sure there would not have been as many complaints. It soulds like they didn't do as such.

I went there earlier in the summer for Indiana Jones and it was broken then--I'm just surprised they haven't fixed it yet. When I went then, they had a small sign up saying that it was broken--when we got to the window we asked the girl how bad it was--she responded with a frown and a shake of the head, "its really bad."

It's a hardship, but it happens. Movie theaters are open 365 days a year. What do you expect? Last year, the AC was not working for a sold out screening of Borne Ultimatum at AMC Loews Village 7, on 3rd Avenue. The staff let everyone know before hand and distributed non-restricted passes to everyone in attendance, whether you were staying for the show or not. At least 3/4 of the audience decided to stay.

IMDB lists it as 152 minutes.. so they sat there for 2.5 hours? It couldn't have been that bad, then.

However if the AC was non-functional, the theater should have been communicating to customers before they bought tickets.

That place is a dump. Poorly managed. Filthy.
Poor projection quality, often receives damaged prints of films. You want to spend $11.50 there, you take your chances. Give me BAM, Cobble Hill, or the Angelica any day.

Stay for the WHOLE movie and then complain? Why didn't they just get up and leave?
